It’s a Tasty Whimsical Wednesday
I hope you are ready for a new SENSE-ational experience. (Yes, I went there…)
This year I'm focusing on delivering inspiration, activities, and curiosities to pique our creative interests. In January we are exploring our five senses. I've created A Guide to Activate your Creativity through your Five Senses. You can download it here. Focusing on sight, sound, smell, taste and touch will help ground you in your body and mind. And being tuned into your SELF enhances your creativity!
Last week we explored the SCENTS around us and the SMELLS that delight us. Did you discover new scents that you love or dislike? I started burning a eucalyptus and mint candle during my morning writing ritual. It is so fresh and invigorating!
After focusing on my sense of smell, it really got me thinking about how it plays into taste. Part of the joy of cooking is all the smells that mingle together - they help build the anticipation of the meal you're about to enjoy.
Let's play with Taste this week.
Let's play with Taste this week.
Really pay attention to what you eat. Identify if it's sweet, salty, sour, bitter, umami (savory) or a combination. Did you know that ketchup activates all of these taste profiles? I'm not a big fan of ketchup, but I can appreciate its versatility!
What is your "comfort food"? What taste profile does it fit into? Mine is a sweet, decadent chocolate brownie.
Do you like to eat the same thing for breakfast (or lunch) every day or mix it up? If you had to eat the same thing for dinner every night, what would it be?
Taste Test! Try different brands of the same type of food and/or drink. For example: get different brands of sour cream and onion potato chips and try them all. Do the same with various beer, wine or coffee. What do you like best? This reminds me of the movie Runaway Bride when Julia Roberts character's "favorite" egg dish is whatever her current partner loves. She eventually tries them all to discover what she actually likes best! I'd love to know if you try a similar experiment! Hit reply to tell me!
I'd love to know if you are experimenting with your individual senses. It's been interesting to focus on one of the five senses each week and I'm really looking forward to tuning into TASTE! Yum. Have a great week.
