Let’s Hear it for Whimsical Wednesday
I still can't believe we are in a NEW YEAR. I allowed myself to ease into 2024. It wasn't until this past week when I finally felt ready to charge ahead.
#1 lesson learned in 2023: listen to what my body and mind really needs! There have been moments when I felt behind and a little nervous that I would never get back on track. During those times I would still myself, take a few deep breaths and allow my inner voice to guide me. It would usually say "get off the internet, lie down, read a book". Or "take yourself and the dog for a walk".
One thing that has helped me stay connected to my inner knowing has been focusing on my five senses. So far we have explored our sight, smell and taste senses. Have you been playing along?
This week we are turning our attention to Sound.
This week we are turning our attention to Sound.
What role does sound play in your life? Do you intentionally infuse your surroundings with noise: music, podcasts, banging around in the kitchen or your craft room? Or do you tend to create a quieter environment? I encourage you to tune in...
Stop right now, close your eyes and LISTEN. What sounds do you hear around you? Still yourself even more - what sounds can you hear beyond the obvious noises? What are the quieter sounds underneath it all? Can you hear your breath and your heart beating?
How long has it been since you stopped to listen to a favorite album? When I was a teen I loved unwrapping a new CD, popping it into my boombox and listening to it over and over again. It's one of the things I miss doing since adulthood and music streaming has become a thing. I encourage you to take the journey with your favorite album from start to finish - doing very little, but listening to the instruments work their magic and the artist breathing life into the lyrics. Don't have the time or focus to listen to an entire album? Listen to just one song. Feel it in your soul!
Make some noise! Bang and stomp around, sing at the top of your lungs, laugh and cackle like a crazy person. THEN STOP and enjoy the silence!
