Craft a Summer of Fun

I don't know about you, but I have an unrealistic excitement for summer. It stems from childhood when the school year would end and the hot summer days drifted into hot summer nights chasing fireflies under the stars. My summers were typically spent with my dad in another state while my friends were back home having the BEST TIME (or so I imagine). My amazing other mother would have craft projects waiting for me and most of my suitcase was filled with books and notebooks to keep me entertained all day while they worked. I had plenty of time to live inside my imagination.

Now my summers are filled with the same schedule as the rest of the year. Wake up, go to work, come home, make dinner, hope I have enough energy to work on my creative business and draw motifs for a new pattern that’s been niggling my brain all day. If I’m not careful, summertime will whizz by without much fanfare and I’ll be waking up on the fall equinox with a slew of regrets.

As an adult, the long summer days reading and sipping lemonade with popsicle stained lips is but a dream.

Ugh, boring, I know! But we gotsta do, what we gotsta do!

If it’s not on the calendar or on a to-do list, it won’t happen - at least in my world. I have to have a checklist to help me remember what I want to do. Otherwise, I’ll get so caught up in the responsibilities screaming and flailing around me, that I’ll ignore the quiet desires waiting under the shady tree.

Don’t let summer whizz by without Summer Fun

I’ve created a worksheet to help you Craft a Summer of Fun. I’ve included a list of summer activities and space for you to list all the things you want to do this summer. Get it here.

Make the most of your summer! One of the best ways to do that is to craft your summer morning/evening ritual. Don’t fall into the same routine as the rest of your year. Have your coffee on the porch. Watch the sunset with a tasty cocktail or mocktail. Dance under the stars instead of binge watching TV. Have your dinners picnic style in your yard.

I’d love to hear about your new summer ritual. You can email me here or send me a dm on instagram @brandystarrcreates.
