Capture the Color Wheel
There is something about the COLOR WHEEL that brings me so much delight. Is that weird? I fell in love my first year of school when we got to fingerpaint with the primary colors.
Yellow + Red = Orange! Yippee!
Blue + Red = Purple! Woohoo!
Yellow + Blue = Green! You’ve got to be kidding me?!
Knowing how to use complementary, analogous and monochromatic colors when you create is one way to level up your artwork. I’ve created a cheat sheet for you to keep at your desk for a quick reminder when choosing colors for you next project.
This week, let’s keep the color discovery going and Capture the Color Wheel! You can do this in a few different ways:
Take a photo for each color on the color wheel. You can print it out and collage them to a paper or canvas. Or digitally arrange them like I did below.
If you don’t want to leave your cozy chair, you can find photos online and digitally arrange them. Be sure to use royalty free images - some of my favorite places to go are unsplash.com and pexels.com.
You can also find images from a magazine and collage them like so… (these were downloaded from unsplash.com and arranged in adobe illustrator, but you get the idea!)
Have fun diving into color discovery! I’d love to see the colorful collages you create. Send me a message here.
