Winter Solstice Wonder

Tomorrow is the longest day of the year and my favorite winter celebration. Among the holiday hustle and bustle, the Winter Solstice is one evening where Christmas preparations are placed on hold. I sit by the light of the Christmas tree listening to instrumental winter-y music, write, dream, and let go.

The first thing I do is let the stillness wash over me while I meditate. Then I spend some time writing all the things I wish to let go of from the past year - clearing my mind and heart. Then I crumple my writings and head outside. If we have snow, like last year, I dig a little spot and light my list on fire. Taking slow deep breaths while I watch it turn to ash. If we don't have snow, I burn it in a small metal bowl.

Here is my winter solstice release from last year.

Once I feel clear, it's time to go inside and look ahead! This starts with my annual oracle reading with my Sacred Destiny deck. Yes, I am a bit woo-woo and I love to get a vision for what my year could be. Of course, we never know what is to come, but it gives me a sense of how I want to approach the year.

My Annual Sacred Destiny Reading

The rest of the night is spent writing and dreaming of all the possibilities that lie ahead! It's the next step in my annual planning process. I start to get a clearer vision of how I want to spend my year.

Do you have any Winter Solstice rituals? Whatever you do, I encourage you to take a moment to honor the darkness and rejoice that the longest night of the year will bring forth new light.

Be still in the dark, light is on the way

2023 has been a wild ride. Thank you for being part of the journey! Have a beautiful week!
