Interview Your Creative Spirit
As we continue to pour love all over our Creative Spirits, I thought it would be fun to shine the spotlight on what your creativity REALLY needs to keep showing up for you.
It's easy to forget what lights up our creativity when we are in the midst of living our adult lives. It can even feel selfish and not important compared to what's going on in the world around us. Creativity isn't always celebrated in our society. Unless it's paired with a paycheck and quantifiable productivity, being "creative" is often viewed with a raised eyebrow and a condescending pat on the head. "That's cute. Now get back to work."
I'm here to remind you that creating is an essential part of our humanity. It opens our hearts and expands our minds. It calms our nervous system and makes space for emotional release. Creating brings us to life. We are not designed to produce, produce, produce for the sake of increasing sales numbers and lining the pockets of corporate entities. We need space to play and connect with our Creative Spirit.
I keep talking about Creative Spirit as if it's a separate entity. Make no mistake: WE ARE OUR CREATIVE SPIRIT, but it's really hard to understand that when we are feeling disconnected from our creativity. Our Creative Spirit never leaves us. It's more likely that it's been ignored for so long that it's gone quiet. It's time to throw a dance party and wake up any part of your truest, most amazing self that's gone quiet!
Now that your Creative Spirit is awake, put on your reporter hat and start asking these questions. Your answers may shed some light on how to keep your creativity engaged in your daily life. Write down the answers from the perspective of your creativity. It will be a helpful list when you’re feeling less than inspired!
