Welcoming October

Moving into October, I encourage you to continue to collect/gather, but this month let's focus on INSPIRATION. Fall is in full swing and for those of us who get buried under long winters, this is a perfect opportunity to collect inspiration to pull from when your creativity feels frozen.

Like our woodland creatures gathering food storage for winter, begin to collect imagery of nature still in bloom. Forage for natural finds that will remind you of life when all else is frozen over. If nature doesn't get your creative juices flowing, take yourself for a walk in the city or wherever you feel creatively alive. Snap photos, record the shadows dancing on the buildings, do a quick sketch of a composition that feels alive.

Trust me, when you are in the depths of winter, you will love pouring through your inspiration collection!

What’s Happening in October

In October, I am drawing a wide range of motifs to put into my personal art database. I am exploring texture and how to translate my love of mixed-media collage into surface pattern design. I am also continuing my Photoshop journey, From Paint to Pattern with Sarah Watts. I am learning so much. I love having new tools for my creative toolkit.
