Activate Your Senses

Are you already diving into your goals for 2024 or are you easing yourself into the new year like I am?! 2023 was A LOT so I am giving myself some time to rest.

This year I do want to be more intentional about nurturing my creativity. Really leaning into the joy of creating and not getting too caught up in the outcome.

Over the next 52 weeks, I will be delivering inspiration, activities, and curiosities to pique your creative interests. In January we are going to be exploring our five senses. I've found that focusing on my sense of smell, taste, touch, sound, and sight really gets me grounded in my body and mind. I've created A Guide to Activate your Creativity through your Five Senses. You can download it here.

Focus on your sense of Sight.

Focus on your sense of Sight.

This week I encourage you to focus on your sense of SIGHT. Here are a few things you can do:

  • Tune into the world around you by looking for a specific color. You can change it up every day or stick with the same color all week. Get even more specific and look for a particular shade of that color.

  • Look up! It's easy to get so distracted by our thoughts that we don't really see the world around us. If we do, we are often looking down or directly in front of us. Look up! Notice the tops of the trees, the birds flying in the sky, the clouds rolling by, and the rooftops of houses or high rises. The other day I saw a house with two frisbees on the roof!

  • Watch the sunset or sunrise. Really take it in and spend time watching the sky turn from dark to light or light to dark. What colors show up? How long does it last? How do you feel during and after?

There are so many wonderful things to see in this world. Being present to the little things will enrich your inner life. You may even get a story out of it or inspiration for your next painting.

Send me an email to let me know what amazing things you see this week!
